Visual Design takes center stage at Milano Film Fest 2026
From June 4 to 8, 2026, the Visual Design programme will take centre stage at Milano Film Fest, the new event dedicated to cinema, visual culture, and contemporary experimentation, bringing together screenings, talks, and opportunities for dialogue between industry professionals and emerging creative talents.
Participation in the Festival represents an important opportunity to celebrate the connection between design, visual communication, and audiovisual languages, while offering students the chance to showcase their work and engage with the contemporary creative landscape.
Among the featured events, on Thursday, June 4 at 12:30 PM, at Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, Sala Rubino, videos created by third-year Visual Design students will be screened as part of Corti Academy. The programme presents a selection of short films produced by partner schools of the Milano Film Fest Academy, offering insight into emerging voices and new cinematic languages. Bringing together diverse approaches, methodologies, and creative perspectives, the initiative highlights the talent of a new generation of storytellers and the innovative possibilities of visual narrative.
The Festival programme will continue on Monday, June 8 at 11:00 AM at Casa degli Artisti (Corso Garibaldi 89) with the masterclass “Slipping Past. Beyond the Screen”, organised in collaboration with Milano Film Fest Academy. The session will explore the evolution of cinematic language in the age of artificial intelligence, generative media, and immersive systems, examining AI not simply as a tool, but as a creative collaborator capable of expanding the possibilities of contemporary storytelling.
Through a roundtable discussion bringing together cinema, technology, and innovation, speakers will address some of the questions shaping the future of audiovisual experiences: Can cinema evolve into a hybrid, interactive, and adaptive medium? Can audiences become active participants rather than spectators? Can films become spaces that can be explored and influenced in real time?
The discussion will feature Ced Pakusevskij, Francesco Briganti, and Selim Unlusoy.
Further strengthening the programme’s presence at Milano Film Fest is the participation of two third-year Visual Design students as members of the Festival’s Official Jury, Katherine Meiren and Maximilian Gatev.
Their selection represents an important recognition of the talent, critical thinking, and professional development cultivated throughout their academic journey, while providing them with the opportunity to actively contribute to the evaluation of the works presented during the Festival.
Through screenings, educational initiatives, and the direct involvement of its students, this participation highlights an ongoing commitment to contemporary visual culture and to fostering dialogue between education, creativity, and innovation—elements that are increasingly central to the evolution of the cultural and audiovisual industries.
