The exhibition with Rivatelier during Design Week 2026
Product Design students from Istituto Marangoni Milano Design, in collaboration with Rivatelier.
Developed in collaboration with Rivatelier, the project explores new approaches to outdoor living, redefining balconies and terraces as active extensions of the home. These spaces evolve throughout the day, accommodating work, rest and social interaction within a continuous transformation.

At the core of the project is a reflection on the changing role of outdoor environments in contemporary urban life. No longer secondary spaces, they become flexible and adaptive settings, where the boundaries between interior and exterior, private and public, function and experience are constantly redefined.
Balconies and terraces become active extensions of the home
Environments shift between work, rest and social interaction
Flexible solutions respond to changing contexts and daily needs
Students develop hybrid and modular solutions that go beyond traditional outdoor furniture, proposing new categories of objects capable of responding to different contexts and uses. Designed for both compact balconies and larger terraces, these systems integrate technical performance with refined aesthetics, balancing durability with tactile and visual quality.

Through this approach, the project expands Rivatelier’s identity, positioning the terrace as a dynamic living environment where new rituals, habits and ways of living emerge.
