Celebrating 90 Years with Leadership Voices
With 6,000 students from 108 countries across its 11 campuses worldwide and a Community of over 45,000 alumni, Istituto Marangoni stands today as a leading international and multicultural educational group with a distinctly Italian DNA. The Group keeps shaping future professionals in the creative and luxury industries.
To mark its 90th Anniversary, an exclusive event was held at the prestigious Palazzo Turati, the new home of the Milan Fashion School.
The evening welcomed Institutional figures, including Alessandra Gallone (Senator), Alessia Cappello (Councillor for Economic Development and Labour Policies for the City of Milan), Marc-François Mignot-Mahon (President of Galileo Global Education), Donato Medici (CEO of Galileo Global Education Italy), Stefania Valenti (Global Managing Director of Istituto Marangoni), and Paolo Meroni (School Director of Istituto Marangoni Milano).
Stefania Valenti, Global Managing Director, opened this important milestone in the Group’s history with the following words:
“We are celebrating 90 years of Istituto Marangoni by paying tribute to a great international community of students, alumni, faculty, and professionals who, every day, contribute to making this institution unique within the landscape of fashion and luxury education.
Founded on the visionary intuition of Giulio Marangoni, our school has evolved while remaining rooted in a method that blends creativity, discipline, and openness to innovation.
Along this journey, we also draw inspiration from the vision of Leonardo da Vinci, the focus of our recent publication Leonardo Da Vinci. Pioneer of fashion and style, a work that explores his genius as a designer, innovator, and forerunner of the concept of branding.
The inauguration of the Marangoni Archive and the exhibition Future Archives, in collaboration with Vogue Italia, are a testament to our commitment to preserving memory in order to fuel the future.
We look ahead with courage, fully aware that true innovation is born from the meeting of cultures, languages, and knowledge.”
Stefania Valenti, Global Managing Director of Istituto Marangoni
Senator Alessandra Gallone continued:
“Today we are celebrating a remarkable milestone for Italian fashion: advanced education is the key to strengthening the Made in Italy brand and our unique vision of fashion.
Creating beauty in a place that already embodies beauty itself gives us wings to aim ever higher.
Istituto Marangoni is not just a school of higher education: it is a forge of talent, a laboratory for experimentation, a bridge between tradition and the future.
Since 1935, it has trained generations of professionals who have helped build and spread the prestige of Italian fashion, luxury, and design.
It has managed to keep craftsmanship, aesthetic sense, and attention to detail alive while constantly engaging with change—new technologies, digital languages, contemporary sensitivities, and sustainability.
Today, thanks to the book on Leonardo created in collaboration with Istituto Marangoni, we have also discovered a new side of this great Italian genius: an engineer, inventor, and multidisciplinary mind who, in a certain sense, we can consider one of the first fashion designers.
His concept of an Academy closely mirrors the idea of higher education that Istituto Marangoni has proudly carried forward for 90 years.”

The evening also featured a video message from Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region, who praised Istituto Marangoni not only as a center for education but also as a real hub where students, professionals, and companies come together to develop talent, right in the international capital of luxury: Milan.

Alessia Cappello, Councillor for Economic Development and Labour Policies for the City of Milan, also joined the celebrations, stating:
“Today is an extraordinary day: celebrating Istituto Marangoni’s 90 years in Milan means far more than just marking an anniversary.
In a world that is constantly changing, this milestone proves the Institute’s ability to continuously adapt to the needs of the job market, renewing itself without ever betraying its core values.
Marangoni represents a strategic asset, an institution of excellence that attracts students from all over the world, creates synergies with local and international companies, and enriches the city’s cultural, economic, and creative fabric.”
Alessia Cappello, Councillor for the City of Milan
The event saw the special participation of Ambassador of USA to Italy Tilman J. Fertitta, who joined the Fashion Show and met with the emerging designers, stating:
"What a pleasure to attend the 90th Anniversary show of Istituto Marangoni, a true milestone for Italian design education. These emerging designers from around the world showed that Italy will continue to inspire and shape the future of global fashion.”

During the evening, the school also inaugurated its new Milan campus, inspired by neo-Renaissance architecture. This was followed by the opening of the immersive exhibition “Future Archives,” developed in collaboration with Vogue Italia. The exhibition tells the story of nine decades of Italian fashion, reinterpreted by students through capsule collections inspired by various historical periods and created using Vogue’s digital archives. It was a powerful expression of the ongoing dialogue between heritage and contemporary design, made even more vivid by the contributions of students in Fashion Styling & Creative Direction.
To conclude the celebration, ten emerging designers from Istituto Marangoni Milano presented their graduate collections at the XC | 90 fashion show, held inside the historic Galleria Meravigli.
Francesca Airoldi, Chief Business Officer at Condé Nast Italia, commented:
"Futures Archive is a project that shows how history can be a living resource for innovation. Giving students access to Vogue Italia’s digital archive allowed them to immerse themselves in visual culture and transform fashion’s memory into contemporary visions. We’re proud to stand alongside Istituto Marangoni in celebrating its 90th anniversary and the educational value it continues to champion."
Francesca Ragazzi, Head of Editorial Content at Vogue Italia, also spoke about the Futures Archive exhibition:
"Supporting new generations is one of Vogue Italia’s core values—it's a mission we've always deeply believed in. With Futures Archive, we celebrate 90 years of Istituto Marangoni Milano while offering students a unique opportunity to engage with fashion history and reinterpret it through a fresh lens. The dialogue with the past, made possible through the digital archive that traces and preserves the legacy of our magazine, becomes a powerful starting point for looking ahead. Together with Istituto Marangoni Milano, we’ve created a space that values and amplifies the energy of youth, the future leaders of our industry. I was truly impressed by the creativity and dedication the students brought to this project."
