Matteo
Lamandini
Pragmatism, determination and creativity. In very few years, Matteo Lamandini has become a promising designer in the international fashion scene. Originally from Modena, he was studying for a career in banking but backed out as he realized he had always been passionate about tailoring and style. Thus, he decided to study modeling and design at the European Academy of Bologna, then completed his academic education with a diploma in Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni Milano in 2013. After his first internship at MSGM, Matteo began working in the style / product department at MARNI’s, in the menswear sector. In 2014, his graduation collection of tartan print dresses allowed him to win the "Designer for Tomorrow" contest, presented by Tommy Hilfiger and designed by Peek & Cloppenburg German fashion company. The following year, his first namesake collection "Tristesse Contemporaine" – a review of children American uniforms of the 1950s – received much appreciation and great success at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. That same summer, in July 2015, he was one of the five emerging talents participating in the "5 + 5" project launched by AltaRoma and Vogue Talents, where he was mentored by designer Massimo Giorgetti.
His work alongside important players in the fashion system has been key to his professional growth: he has had the opportunity to travel - between New York, Berlin and Amsterdam for example - and to hone a style already focused on unexpected contrasts and attention to detail in an ironic and modern way, yet never neglecting Italian craftsmanship and the love for Made in Italy tailoring that has always distinguished him.
