Rahul Mishra was born in Mahausi, India, and lives and works in Mumbai and Delhi. After graduating in Physics from Kanpur University, he discovered his passion for fashion design and decided to continue his training with a post graduation in Apparel Design from the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, where he won the Best Student Designer Of The Year award in 2005. A graduate of the Master's Course in Fashion Design Womenswear at Istituto Marangoni Milano in 2007, he founded his label in 2008. The International Woolmark Prize, won in Milano in 2014, marked his success and placed him, in August that year, amongst the BoF 500, the Business of Fashion list of the names shaping the global fashion industry. A further confirmation of his exceptional talent came in October the same year, when he participated with unanimous success in the Paris Fashion Week with his SS15 collection. A keen supporter of a sustainable, ethical, 'slow fashion' approach, Mishra has set a new language in handmade couture, based on ancient Indian clothing design tradition, while taking advantage of its emerging fashion industry, to build a strikingly elegant, modern urban wear.
In 2023, the designer received once again worldwide recognition when Zendaya wore his garments during the prestigious inauguration of the new Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center in Mumbai.
