Sonam began her professional journey in India as a Textile Designer at Himatsingka Seide, a leading home textile manufacturer, where she worked for American and European luxury home furnishing brands. Following this experience, she relocated to Paris in 2016 to attend Istituto Marangoni and further develop her creative vision. After graduating, she joined the design team of Coralie Marabelle, a French womenswear brand, before gaining further experience in the Print and Embroidery Department at Balmain. 

In 2021, Sonam founded Sonam Khetan, a womenswear brand built on the belief that fashion can inspire greater awareness and action towards environmental responsibility. Each collection is rooted in extensive research and explores themes connected to ecology, sustainability and the relationship between people and the natural world.

Within just a few years of launching her brand, Sonam gained industry recognition, receiving prestigious awards including LFW x FDCI GenNext 2023, Grazia Young Fashion Awards 2024, and ELLE India Designer of the Year 2024. Her work has also been featured in leading international publications such as Vogue, Madame Figaro, and ELLE and she stands out for her commitment to sustainability and artisanality.
