The Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Communication & Image at Istituto Marangoni Riyadh develops the creative, conceptual and technical expertise needed to shape visual narratives across fashion styling, creative direction and communication.
The first year offers a broad introduction to the creative system, bringing together workshops in fashion image, fashion, product, interior and visual design and fashion management with research methods, fine arts, Italian creative culture, sustainability and AI.
In the second year, the programme turns to the visual and cultural foundations of the discipline. Students investigate applied arts, visual communication, photography and the psychology of advertising and consumption, while learning how images are researched, produced and communicated through specialist techniques, processes and materials.
The third year is centred on developing a distinctive visual language through art direction, layout, photographic culture and contemporary design criticism, with corporate identity and communication strategies linking image-making to brand contexts. The final year expands this practice into multimedia and communication design, sociology and enterprise management, culminating in editorials, campaigns and fashion films, brand communication, a dissertation and an industry internship.
Saudi students seeking support through the Cultural Scholarship Program must also submit a separate application through the Cultural Scholarship Platform. Applicants seeking a scholarship are required to complete both applications separately within the application period.

Building visual culture and creative foundations
The first year introduces students to the broader creative industries through an interdisciplinary learning experience that combines design, culture, communication, and visual experimentation.
Semester 1 includes practical workshops in product design, fashion image, fashion management, and visual design, supported by design and research methods, fine arts, global culture and contextual studies, and English language development.
In Semester 2, students expand this perspective through fashion design, interior design, and fragrances & cosmetics, alongside Italian creative culture, sustainability fundamentals, AI essentials, entrepreneurial mindset, soft skills, and specialist fashion and design terminology.
The year culminates in a first portfolio that brings together research, imagery, and creative experimentation, establishing the foundations of visual storytelling and communication.
YEAR 2 (SEMESTERS 3 AND 4)
Understanding the languages of fashion communication
Year 2 develops the cultural awareness, visual literacy, and production knowledge that underpin contemporary fashion communication.
During Semester 3, students explore applied arts, visual communication history, advertising and consumer psychology, and photography, gaining a deeper understanding of how images influence perception and shape brand narratives.
Semester 4 introduces visual research methodologies, communication techniques, production processes, and materials science and technology.
These subjects are complemented by the study of a foreign language and free study activities, allowing students to broaden both their professional and cultural perspectives.
YEAR 3 (SEMESTERS 5 AND 6)
Developing an individual visual identity
In the third year, students refine their personal creative voice while strengthening their technical and conceptual approach to image-making.
Art direction, layout techniques, and advanced visual research are studied alongside contemporary design criticism and the history of photography and photographic techniques.
Corporate identity and communication strategies place visual practice within a broader brand and business context, helping students understand how creative direction supports commercial objectives.
Free study activities provide additional opportunities to pursue personal interests and develop a distinctive professional profile.
YEAR 4 (SEMESTERS 7 AND 8)
Professional communication across brands and media
The final year expands students’ communication skills across multiple platforms, formats, and professional environments.
Semester 7 combines multimedia design, communication design, and advanced corporate identity with sociology of communication, organisation skills, enterprise performance management, and dissertation development.
In Semester 8, students focus on brand communication and undertake an internship with fashion brands, publishers, or agencies, applying their knowledge within professional contexts.
This final experience strengthens their portfolio and prepares them to enter the industry with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary fashion communication practices.
The skills and knowledge developed throughout the four-year Bachelor degree course prepare students for a wide range of career opportunities across the industry.
