Introduction to Fashion Design & Visual Artistry

The Introduction to Fashion Design and Visual Artistry course employs a blended methodology that balances self-paced foundational learning with immersive, interactive experiences:

• Asynchronous Content on Demand: Cultural and technical fundamentals are delivered through on-demand modules, allowing students to absorb essential knowledge flexibly, at their own pace. This enables a strong foundational understanding in areas like design principles and digital tools and serve as an audiovisual library to guide the student in project-based assessments.
• Immersive Virtual Live Learning: Live sessions in the virtual spaces of Istituto Marangoni | 12 are designed to encourage experimentation and style development. These interactive classes provide a dynamic space for students to test ideas, explore personal style, and receive immediate feedback, helping to refine their creative direction.
• Project Review and Coaching: Personalized project reviews offer tailored mentorship, guiding each student in developing a unique creative formula. These reviews ensure students’ work aligns with creative academic guidance and showcases their distinct style, preparing them for a contemporary fashion project.

On top of this, students will also have the opportunity to:

• book a 1:1 meeting with their tutor for clarifications or guidance on their course and project
• take part in a live immersive workshop led by the tutor

• Fashion Illustration: Develops students’ skills in sketching and illustrating fashion concepts, with a focus on figure proportions and garment details. Hand-made and digital tools are involved.
• Art & Fashion Culture: Explores the historical and cultural intersections between art and fashion, enhancing students' understanding of fashion’s influence on the 20th Century and the contemporary fashion system.
• Style Analysis & Fashion Exploration: Instructs students on the nuances of style, enabling them to analyze and interpret fashion trends across various contexts.
• Pattern Cutting: Introduces foundational pattern-making techniques essential for garment construction.
• Fundamentals of Fashion Photography: Covers the basics of fashion photography, focusing on composition, lighting, and visual storytelling in fashion imagery.

• Video lessons– to introduce key concepts and provide expert explanations.
• Video tutorials– to demonstrate tools and processes step by step.
• Manuals– to offer detailed reference material for independent study.
• Links to external resources– to broaden knowledge with curated industry content.

Lessons will begin at 15:30 CET. The final schedule will be shared prior to the official start of the course. In the event of an inability to attend a live session, an exceptional opportunity to make up the lesson on demand via our platform will be provided.
