Alumnus Alberto Zambelli wins Istituto Marangoni Tote Bag Contest
Fashion designer Alberto Zambelli is the winner of the Istituto Marangoni IM Tote Bag contest, the challenge that involves I'M Alumni community in proposing the creative concept for the iconic Istituto Marangoni Tote Bag.
The Tote bag design is inspired by a universal hug as a simple, spontaneous gesture, digging deep into primordial human needs and bringing two entities back together into one through minimal, poetic, contemporary graphics.
Fornasetti and Gio Ponti were the graphic inspirations behind the Alberto Zambelli x Istituto Marangoni IM Tote Bag. The designer used high-contrast black, white and red to restyle the Marangoni Heritage.
His concept reflects Istituto Marangoni’s mission to gather and train young talent worldwide, blending differences and combining creativity and technique, featuring a universal embrace that becomes a manifesto of cultural diversity and creativity.
After graduating in Fashion Design from the Istituto Marangoni Milano Fashion School in 1990, the designer started his career at ITTIERRE Group as a knitwear assistant for D&G, Versace and Exté collections. After 1996 he collaborated with prestigious women’s ready-to-wear labels in Italy. In 2013, he debuted with his first Alberto Zambelli capsule collection, founding the eponymous brand that stands out for premium materials and prestigious details. Known for his bold, refined, and elegant style, he has established his brand and currently lives and works in Milano, Tokyo and Shanghai.
