Turning global commitment into practical action: this year’s Climate Change Conference COP27 is taking on an increasingly challenging mission. Istituto Marangoni  will be at COP27’s Green Zone, one of the side events of the conference, held in Egypt’s Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh.

The Green Zone is a forum that seeks to promote dialogue and awareness via events, talks and workshops engaging youth, fashion and business communities, civil society, academia and artists, placing innovation and investment at the heart of the debate to accelerate the pathway to net zero.

Massimo Casagrande, a Postgraduate Program Leader at Istituto Marangoni Paris, will participate in a panel discussion titled “Connecting the Unconnected: Towards a circular fashion eco-system” along with Maria Buccellati, CEO of Faith Connexion, a global fashion brand collaborating with Istituto Marangoni Paris.

Together they will discuss how fashion, one of the world’s largest polluting industries, is making efforts to clean up its act for a more responsible future and the role of education in helping to create new sustainable and circular solutions.

Massimo Casagrande and Maria Buccellati will touch on the technological advances in garment construction, sampling and supply chain, the rise of blockchain technology, and the fashion industry’s digital transformation. They will also focus on the role of education and its impact on new generations of designers and fashion professionals and how to promote change through industry and educational collaborations, such as that with Faith Connexion.

Other topics will include inclusivity, design solutions in creating collections by focusing on deadstock fabrics, reusing unsold products, eco-friendly washes, neo-craftmanship and the importance of preserving artisanal skills and knowledge through technology and innovation.

The panel will take place on Tuesday, 15th November, in the Green Zone Trend Area, Hall A, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
