The mentorship programme “Discover Your Talent” with Gilda Ambrosio endend on May 26th. Gilda, Istituto Marangoni Milano Alumna, Fashion Icon, founder and co-designer of The Attico, has supported first-year students of Fashion Design, Fashion Styling and Fashion Business since February, enhancing their education and talent and helping them grow as individuals.

Students were asked to explore the iconic miniskirt, chosen by Gilda as the main theme of the project, considered a symbol of personal growth and the process of gaining self-confidence.

The investigation on the peculiar values of the miniskirt, such as seduction and empowerment, the topics of femininity and feminism, as well as gender and social identity, has been conducted by Fashion Design students through stylistic research and the creation of a collection, and by future stylists with ad aesthetic, historical and socio-cultural research. Then, Fashion Business students focused on market research, inquiring different street styles, influencer and consumer tribes.

At the end of the Mentorship project, Gilda, together with the Istituto Marangoni Milano academic committee, awarded the students’ best projects, which stood out for their creative and communicative impact.

Fashion Styling student Arianna Guion won first place with “What is the miniskirt for you?”, an evocative video narrating the feelings of wearing this garment through the voices of different people.

Fashion Styling student Luca Rosei won second place by creating a true fanzine entitled “A Skirt Kids Story”, inspired by the aesthetic of Club Kids with the 80s New York vibes.

Fashion Design student Francesco Datti, who created a miniskirt using recycled fabrics dyed into coffee, shared third place with Sofia Sarandrea from the Fashion Business course, who shot a video recreating a typical clubbing atmosphere.
