Istituto Marangoni Milano and Francesco Rudi
The founder of Versace Eventi, a community with more than 350,000 followers, joins Istituto Marangoni Milano as Student Ambassador for the short course in Fashion Communication for Luxury. The collaboration launches during Milan Fashion Week with "Inside the Fashion System".
At just 19, Francesco Rudi has built something that goes far beyond a social media profile: Versace Eventi, an independent digital platform dedicated to the Maison, is now followed by more than 350,000 people across Instagram, TikTok, Weibo and RED, generating around 25 million monthly views. It is not simply a fan account, but a digital space that demonstrates how communities can support and complement the communication of a luxury brand.
It is from this experience that his collaboration with Istituto Marangoni Milano begins, as Student Ambassador for the short course in Fashion Communication for Luxury: a three-week programme designed as a true introduction to the world of fashion, while also offering an insight into the dynamics that drive it. The course takes participants through marketing and communication strategies aimed at a high-profile international clientele, exploring how leading luxury brands develop their strategies and, above all, how the “aspirational desire” that keeps the relationship between a Maison and its audience alive is created and nurtured. The programme is ideal for those considering a more intensive future in fashion studies, or simply looking to give their career a clearer direction.
This is also where "Inside the Fashion System" comes into play, the new format that Rudi will develop together with the school: a series of short conversations designed to explore the people behind the roles within the fashion system. The format will launch during Milan Fashion Week.
"Inside the Fashion System" was born from the idea of going beyond a job title and showing the person behind it. What inspired you to create a format around this idea?
“Today, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of formats dedicated to opening up a dialogue with members of the fashion system. In most cases, however, they focus exclusively on the interviewees’ professional careers, without taking into consideration their more human side. With Inside the Fashion System, my goal is instead to go beyond the job title and uncover the more intimate, vulnerable and authentic sides of the guests.”
With Versace Eventi, you have built a community around fashion from a “fan” perspective. What do you think is missing in the way the industry tells its own story to people who experience fashion from the outside?
“I strongly believe that fan culture is the true driving force behind the fashion industry. In my view, the issue is not strictly about reinterpreting the codes of the Maisons, but rather about the lack of dialogue with new audiences.”
Why did you choose the Fashion Communication for Luxury course specifically?
“Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with Marangoni several times, taking part in events and amplifying them across my channels. The short course option, which offers highly immersive training within a concentrated period of time, immediately felt like the best choice for me.”
The conversations are filmed according to the logic of short-form content. What changes when the format forces you to get straight to the point?
“The brevity of the episodes is very intentional: by requiring immediate directness, it brings the guest into a conversation that feels as real as possible, without beating around the bush.”
What would you like viewers to take away from these episodes about how the fashion system really works?
“I would like the format as a whole to offer a narrative of the fashion industry that is less glamorous and polished, and more honest.”
Francesco Rudi’s story ultimately demonstrates something that Istituto Marangoni Milano has always believed: talent in fashion never comes from a single language, but from the ability to connect different worlds. Education and digital culture, heritage and the communities that tell its story every day. It is within this space that Istituto Marangoni Milano continues to shape the next generation of voices in the industry, providing the tools to turn an established passion into a conscious, professional career.
