Istituto Marangoni Mumbai unveiled No boundaries, the very first fashion show since the opening of the school, that showcased the most promising talents from the Mumbai School, along with the best international designers. Guest of honour for the evening was acclaimed Bollywood star, Soha Ali-Khan, who, along with the city’s fashion-forward crowd, attended the event to admire the outfits on the catwalk and congratulate the young designers as they step into the world of professional fashion. The show saw 8 designers from the Mumbai School – Tanushka Joshi, Khushboo Banthia, Rafat Kazi, Zeba Basha, Suyash Soundalgekar, Shivani Parikh, Niveditha Rajmohan, and Antoinette Fernandes - and 5 from Istituto Marangoni’s international network showcasing their work. Tanushka Joshi, who showed her collection, ‘Reliquiae’, inspired by Tyler Thrasher and all about second skins and bringing the dead back to life, was awarded the title of ‘Designer of the Year’ thanks to her creativity, originality and craftsmanship. The fashion show of the Mumbai school was followed by the showcase of the best designers from the other international schools - Natalia Esteve (London), Pietro Fadda (Milan), Yiju Kim (Paris), Mana Jinyang (Florence), and Wang Di (Shanghai) - who, walking their creations on the catwalk once again, ran for the title of ‘Cross school Designer of the Year’. This year, the overall winner was the London-based designer Natalia Esteve. Speaking about the show and the event, Mr. Roberto Riccio, Group Managing DirectorIstituto Marangoni, said, “We are thrilled to be hosting ‘No Boundaries’, a unique Fashion Show that showcases the designers’ talent at Istituto Marangoni’s global schools. We are really very proud of all the hard work that these young designers have put into their collections and we are very happy to see how well they were received. This is also the first time students from our Mumbai school have taken the stage in such a big event and I am very optimistic about the level of talent that will come out from the Mumbai school.”
