Istituto Marangoni Milano • The School of Design will be at Milan Design Week again this year with a selection of projects created by students in collaboration with leading design and tech companies.

As part of the School's cultural programme for this academic year titled Sentient Horizons, the exhibition plan for the Milan Design Week 2023 presents the most recent projects with which the School attempts to answer the questions that new technologies such as the Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence increasingly pose to our living spaces.

The exhibitions and events will be displayed in different parts of the city, from the School's headquarters on Via Cerva to the SuperStudio spaces on Via Tortona and extending into the Metaverse. The tangible is no longer a limit but a starting point for creating projects that manage to "go beyond" by merging the concrete world with the virtual one, now a stable extension of our lives.

The Expanded Universes event will take place in the Via Cerva venue to showcase the best projects developed by three-year Interior, Product and Visual Design students in 2021/2022, inspired by a desire to overcome physical barriers by expanding design horizons through new technologies. The Degree Show's distinctive element will be that of proposing itself as a " portal” that leads to new worlds, as an “expanded” anthropology where natural, technological, real and digital coexist.

Also on Via Cerva will be an exhibition of prototypes of objects designed by the members of the Prisma Project (the School's exclusive project that promotes the careers of the best graduates every year) for the leading ceramics and porcelain brand Mirage to bridge physical and digital realities.

The collaboration with Poltrona Frau also challenged design culture to go beyond its limits by creating "designer" housing modules for life on Mars. The students’ visions will be on display on Via Cerva with an installation created using artificial intelligence.

While the spaces of SuperStudio on 27 Via Tortona will host a special project developed by Product & Furniture Design Master's students in collaboration with e-Novia, consisting of nine products designed to enhance Weart's TouchDRIVER technology, which can simulate the tactile experience and transfer it remotely.
