Future Scenarios Between Art, AI, and Design with Sentient Horizons

What is the role of creativity in an era where artificial intelligence is increasingly integrated into artistic and design processes?
Sentient Horizons 2025, the cultural format by Istituto Marangoni Milano Design, successfully addressed this question during its latest edition, held on Wednesday, May 14, and met with great acclaim from both attendees and the design community.
This year’s edition, titled Seamless Singularities, took place at 4:30 PM at the FLA FlavioLucchiniArt Museum – Superstudio Più, located in Via Tortona 27. The invitation-only talk was moderated by journalist Serena Scarpello and featured three internationally renowned experts operating at the intersection of art, technology, and ethics:
- Sougwen Chung, artist and founder of SCILICET, a pioneer in human–machine co-creation, recently named in the TIME100 AI list;
- Mónica Bello, curator and former director of the Arts at CERN program, winner of the 2024 STARTS Grand Prize;
- Massimo Chiriatti, CTO at Lenovo and author of Incoscienza Artificiale, an expert in AI and its socio-cultural implications.
The theme Seamless Singularities echoed the academic research focus for the 2024/25 year and aligned with the projects presented byIstituto Marangoni Milano Design during the most recent Milano Design Week. It offered a valuable moment of reflection on the convergence of the human and the artificial, intuition and computation, in a world of constant transformation.
With Sentient Horizons, Istituto Marangoni once again affirmed its role as a dynamic educational and cultural hub at the crossroads of creativity, science, and innovation.
