Prima che la materia ceda

PRIMA CHE LA MATERIA CEDA explores the tension between precision and fragility, control and vulnerability, transforming the body into a space shaped by opposing forces. Inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre's Nausea and Gabriella Greison's La donna della bomba atomica, the collection presents a vision of femininity suspended between attraction and repulsion, scientific order and emotional instability.

Rather than pursuing perfection, the project celebrates the beauty of imperfection. Its protagonist emerges through spontaneous gestures and fleeting moments in which composure gives way to authenticity. The street photography of Gary Winogrand provides an important visual reference, capturing the magnetism of the unexpected and the poetry of everyday life.

Combining tailoring, knitwear, accessories and textile experimentation, the collection investigates the relationship between soft and structured forms. Draping, engineered silhouettes, technical knit constructions, leather, embroidery, felted surfaces, manipulated fabrics and custom-developed prints are brought together to translate abstract concepts into a refined design language. Every garment reflects an extensive development process, where craftsmanship and innovation work in dialogue to redefine contemporary elegance.

The result is a collection that approaches fashion design as a form of research, where construction, material exploration and experimentation become tools to express the complexity of contemporary identity. PRIMA CHE LA MATERIA CEDA ultimately reflects on the fragile moment before balance collapses, revealing beauty in tension, contradiction and transformation.

Exploring Fashion Through Narrative, Memory and Visual Experimentation

This selection of editorial projects explores fashion image-making as a space where storytelling, cultural references and experimental styling converge. Each editorial develops a distinct visual language, using fashion as a medium to investigate perception, identity, memory and materiality.

Optical Delirium transforms the familiar setting of an eye examination into a surreal visual experience, where clinical instruments become tools to manipulate perception. Inspired by altered states of vision, the editorial questions how reality is seen by embracing distortion rather than correction.

In Armature, structure becomes both subject and metaphor. Drawing inspiration from skeletal objects and exposed frameworks, the project investigates what lies beneath decoration, revealing the invisible elements that support form while reflecting on personal creative evolution.

Inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, Yume IX intertwines cinematic references with mythology, personal memories and cultural symbolism. Through surreal imagery, the editorial explores the relationship between humanity and nature, blending fashion with dreamlike narratives that cross geographical and historical boundaries.

Pulpería reinterprets the visual heritage of colonial Peru through a contemporary perspective. Referencing historical characters, garments and everyday objects depicted in the works of Pancho Fierro, the editorial relocates these narratives within the streets of Milan, creating a dialogue between different cultures, architectures and identities.

Finally, Sound OFF draws from a personal family legacy of instrument making to transform musical objects into unexpected beauty elements. Detached from their original function, instruments become tactile materials that translate sound into visual composition, highlighting the expressive potential of texture, shape and craftsmanship.

Together, these editorials demonstrate an approach to fashion image-making that extends beyond aesthetics, positioning styling as a research-driven practice where historical references, personal experience and conceptual experimentation intersect to generate original visual narratives.

ISABELLA ARIEDE

SENSIS

SENSIS, developed by Isabella Ariede, reimagines the fashion e-commerce experience through a more accurate, personalized, and informed approach to purchasing. In an industry where size uncertainty remains one of the leading causes of product returns, SENSIS introduces an intelligent platform designed to guide users throughout the buying journey, helping them make confident decisions before completing a purchase.

The project combines digital body profiling, measurement analysis, and personalized recommendations to identify the most suitable fit for each consumer. By creating a digital avatar and processing anthropometric data, SENSIS delivers detailed insights into sizing, garment fit, and overall wearing experience, bringing the benefits of an in-store fitting room into the online environment.

Slide34

Beyond size recommendations, the platform incorporates feedback from users with similar body characteristics, enabling meaningful comparisons and increasing trust in the purchasing process. This user-centered approach supports better-informed decisions while strengthening transparency between brands and customers.

SENSIS also addresses key economic and environmental challenges affecting the retail industry. By reducing the number of returns, the platform helps online retailers minimize operational costs and improve logistics efficiency. At the same time, fewer return shipments contribute to lowering the environmental impact associated with transportation and reverse supply chains.

Designed as an inclusive solution for both consumers and fashion businesses, SENSIS proposes a new way of connecting people, products, and data. By integrating technology, user experience, and sustainability, SENSIS by Isabella Ariede presents a forward-thinking vision for the future of online shopping, where every purchase can be more accurate, efficient, and responsible.

YADAN: Fashion as a Catalyst for Social Change

Can fashion become a force for social impact? This question lies at the core of YADAN, the final project by Fashion Product student Tala Yossr, which combines design, entrepreneurship and sustainability to empower women through traditional craftsmanship.

Inspired by the Arabic word Yad ("hand"), YADAN celebrates the value of craftsmanship as a vehicle for cultural preservation, economic opportunity and community development. The project envisions a social enterprise that supports Bedouin women by transforming traditional artisanal knowledge into sustainable employment and long-term independence.

Tala Yossr 083295 Best student 3 compressed page 0002

The project is rooted in extensive field research carried out in Manshiyat Naser, Cairo, in collaboration with the Association for the Protection of the Environment (APE). Through site visits and interviews with artisans participating in the organisation's programmes, Tala documented how education, vocational training and fair employment can become powerful drivers of financial independence and social inclusion. Their personal stories reveal the transformative impact that craftsmanship can have on both individuals and communities.

Tala Yossr 083295 Best student 3 compressed page 0012

YADAN also embraces the principles of circular fashion through a business model centred on deadstock materials, textile upcycling and product life extension. Sustainability is therefore approached as both an environmental commitment and a strategy for generating lasting social value, demonstrating how responsible design can benefit people as much as the planet.

More than a fashion product proposal, YADAN offers a broader vision of design as a catalyst for positive change. By bringing together innovation, cultural heritage and social entrepreneurship, the project highlights the evolving role of fashion in addressing contemporary challenges. It stands as a compelling example of how emerging creative professionals can use design to build more inclusive, resilient and sustainable futures.

ALESSANDRO BRIENZA

Eclat

For the SS 2027-2028 season, designer Alessandro Brienza introduces ECLAT: la frammentazione di luce e vetro, a collection exploring the boundary between structure and vulnerability. Inspired by the physics of Prince Rupert’s drop, the project mirrors a rigid outer shell concealing high internal tension.

FD2 PERSONAL COLLECTION ALESSANDRO BRIENZA compressed (1) page 0050

At the core lies the concept of Substrato: clean, minimal outer layers act as translucent filters to reveal an intricate inner depth. Through sartorial layering of regenerated PVC, TPU, and velvet devoré, garments transcend two-dimensional surfaces into three-dimensional architecture.

Drawing from the light explorations of Olafur Eliasson and Tokujin Yoshioka, Brienza transforms clothing into a dynamic prism. Light penetrates the layers, refracting into shifting reflections with every movement, asserting that true contemporary luxury resides within protected vulnerability.
