After graduating in Italian Product Design from Istituto Marangoni Milano, Gustavo Martini decided to move to the Italian capital of fashion and design to nourish his creative talent in industrial design. Born in Brazil in 1987, and already graduated in Industrial Design from PUC-Rio University, today he lives in Milano, and collaborates with many companies in the design industry. Martini has a strong sense of connection with the city of Rio, where he lived the majority of his life, and sees it as a combination of two contrasting words: the chaotic metropolis and the surrounding rain forest. He has attended numerous design trade shows, events, and competitions – he was the winner of the IDEA Brazil award twice in 2011 and 2012. In Italy, he exhibited his work for the first time in 2012 at Salone Satellite, and then back again in 2016 with his creation – EDGE – an installation representing the way a project comes to life. During Salone del Mobile 2017 he joined the Young Designer Store project, launched by Istituto Marangoni to support the talent of Alumni designers in collaboration with Amazon.it and which brought to the creation of a capsule collection available on Amazon website. In 2017, he was awarded as Next Generation Designer by Wallpaper*, and was highly praised by Tony Chambers, Brand and Content Director of Wallpaper* Magazine. In 2018, his furniture collection “The Grove” was awarded the Wallpaper* Design Award for Best Squaring Up.
