In partnership with Bulgari Hotel
Istituto Marangoni London is thrilled to announce a prestigious mentorship collaboration between its MA Interior Design and MA Product Design programmes and the celebrated London-based design studio Barber Osgerby. Under the direct guidance of founders Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, students will embark on an innovative journey to redefine the future of luxury hospitality. Focused on the Bulgari Hotel London, the project gives students the rare opportunity to engage directly with one of the world’s leading design voices, pushing the boundaries of creativity, heritage, and sustainability within the luxury hospitality sector.
What will luxury hospitality look like for future generations? This is the challenge that MA Interior Design and MA Product Design students at Istituto Marangoni London are undertaking through a unique collaboration with Barber Osgerby.
The project invites students to envision new narratives for the Bulgari Hotel London, redesigning key spaces such as the presidential suites, spa, and ballroom. Students are tasked with exploring a rich blend of themes — Italian heritage, British identity, and sustainable innovation — to create concepts that embody the evolving spirit of contemporary luxury.
Structured with a detailed project brief and ongoing mentorship sessions, the initiative offers an immersive, real-world design experience. Students will receive regular feedback directly from Jay Osgerby and the Barber Osgerby team, gaining invaluable insight into translating creative ideas into sophisticated spatial and product design solutions tailored for a high-end hospitality context.
Students are challenged to reimagine luxury spaces by weaving together Italian tradition and British design culture.
The project urges participants to integrate eco-conscious thinking and sustainable materiality into luxury hospitality design.
The initiatives aims at bridging academic learning with professional industry standards through expert guidance from Barber Osgerby.
Students are offered an authentic project scenario that closely mirrors professional design challenges and client expectations.
The collaboration culminated in an exclusive project presentation event hosted at the Bulgari Hotel London on 27th March 2025 at 10:00 AM.
During this event, students have unveiled their design proposals to an audience comprising Bulgari Hotel stakeholders, Barber Osgerby representatives, and Istituto Marangoni London faculty.
Each presentation showcased how students have interpreted themes of heritage, luxury, and sustainability into visionary design concepts, celebrating a new chapter in hospitality design.
The event offered not only an opportunity for students to demonstrate their creativity and professional growth but also highlights the school’s ongoing commitment to meaningful industry engagement and cultivating future design leaders.
