Istituto Marangoni Mumbai was proud to host an insightful talk about the relevance and stature of Indian craft in the global Fashion Industry. Occurring on the heels of the iconic Dior A/W23 show that took place at the Gateway of India in Mumbai, the talk between Maria Grazia Chiuri, Creative Director of Women’s Collections – Dior & Imran Amed, Founder & CEO – Business of Fashion was a unique opportunity for Istituto Marangoni Mumbai students and fashion passionate to have a special glimpse into the creative world of Dior.

Imran Amed shared his thoughts about the long-standing history between the global Fashion Industry and India, and inspiration of the India’s traditional craftsmanship on some of the most successful collections of prestigious luxury brands.

The Dior creative director went through her personal and professional history with India. The work that she has done with India, its handicrafts and artisans is now part of the Dior story – which is one of the reasons for the luxury fashion house to do its A/W23 show in Mumbai. This has put the spotlight on the incredible Indian craftsmen and women, whose talent and creativity make this high-luxury fashion possible.  

The talk between Mr. Amed and Ms. Chiuri was followed by a lively and enlightening Q&A session, where students dug deeper into the points that were discussed earlier in the session.

The event concluded with a networking session, where the audience shared impressions and thoughts on the insights there were highlighted during the talk, insights that were particularly important for Istituto Marangoni students and their future careers.
