An inspiring afternoon of dialogue, vision, and shared values: Istituto Marangoni Milano Design recently hosted an exclusive talk with the Cartier team, centered around the upcoming Women’s Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

The talk explored the power of design as a tool to reflect, tell stories, and take action on pressing global issues—female empowerment, environmental sustainability, and the cultural value of heritage. The Pavilion, set to open from April 13 to October 13, 2025, next to the Japan Pavilion, will be an immersive and symbolic space designed to welcome global perspectives, insights, and meaningful conversations through a distinctly female lens.

Two special guests led the conversation: Rodolphe Ratzel, Managing Director Cartier South East Europe (Italy & Greece), and Viviana Caslini, Corporate and Cultural Projects Director. Both shared the Maison’s commitment to combining creativity, legacy, and social responsibility in this unique international project.

They also gave students and faculty a behind-the-scenes look into the design and curatorial process of the Pavilion. The audience included students from Interior Design and Visual Design.

The session sparked lively engagement, with thoughtful questions and discussions showing a vibrant, curious community eager to connect with leading voices from the luxury and cultural industries.

The Women’s Pavilion features globally renowned contributors such as Es Devlin, British artist known for her large-scale immersive installations, and Yuko Nagayama, award-winning Japanese architect whose work reflects the cycles of nature and interconnectedness of people and resources. The space will also showcase the work of artists like Naomi Kawase, Mariko Mori, Chitose Abe, and host thematic forums within the WA space, touching on topics like art, environment, technology, and social roles.

The Cartier team will be based in Osaka for the next six months, until November 2025, actively contributing to one of the most emblematic projects of the upcoming World Expo.

Once again, Istituto Marangoni Milano Design proves to be a hub where education, industry, and forward-thinking design come together to shape tomorrow.
