COURSE THEMES

Week 1

Participants get an overview of key styles, starting from an investigation of topical periods in fashion history which are still relevant nowadays to then focus on current social media-driven aesthetics and future trends that characterize and influence them. In order to fully understand the role of the professional stylist, participants will then be guided in sourcing and collating information from an array of research tools such as books, fashion magazines and specific digital domains relevant to fashion. They familiarise with digital tools and conduct iconographic research to fuel their creative inspiration and convey it through evocative mood boards.

Week 2

Participants evaluate the different types of human faces and bodies and are introduced to the skills and techniques used to enhance particular physical features such as hairstyling and make-up. They will gain an understanding of the fundamental elements used to dictate a style (i.e. the importance of the mood, colour palette, silhouette, accessories and their combination) and of the key notions in photography and photo shoot planning. Finally they develop a particular style narrative ready for a photo shoot and collate their work in an individual style book.
