At the centre of all this Met Gala commotion was the Costume Institute’s new exhibition dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld’s extraordinary 65-year career, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” paying tribute to the legendary designer who passed away in 2019.

Not only was the event a celebration of Lagerfeld’s legacy, but it also raised funds for the Costume Institute at the Met. The night kicked off with the parade of stars on the red carpet, which is always one of the event’s highlights. After all, the Met Gala has been dubbed the ‘Super Bowl of Fashion’ for a reason. Some of the most unforgettable looks of all time have graced the monumental steps of the MET. This year, the A-list celebrities were asked to “dress in honour of Karl,” meaning they were asked to interpret his inimitable style. And did they impress!
