For over a year Istituto Marangoni • The School of Design has been waiting for the opportunity to participate again in the most exciting week of the year for the Design World: Salone del Mobile 2021, now in its 60th edition.

During the week, the streets of the Durini Design District come alive with experiences, activities and exhibitions involving Students, Alumni and the Prisma Project. Istituto Marangoni Milano Design has planned several events to refresh and boost the Hub on 24, Via Cerva and spread Design throughout Milan with a special focus on sustainability. These side events are represented by the “Design Drops” concept: with its pervasive local presence, Istituto Marangoni spreads its DNA in multiple ways by generating new touchpoints and cross-pollination, offering visibility to the projects developed by its students & Alumni.

During Salone del Mobile, Istituto Marangoni • The School of Design will dress its facade with amazing wallpapers designed by Surface & Textile Design Alumne for Jannelli&Volpi, an Italian industry leader in 100% Made in Italy wallpapers and coverings.

ISTITUTO MARANGONI MILANO · THE SCHOOL OF DESIGN

September 7th, 2021

The first event on this busy schedule is “1367 • Divining Design Trends”, a talk to present the results of the analysis provided by the Trend Forecasting Observer led by Elena Marinoni – Visual Design Programme Leader – with the collaboration of the School’s Students. The event will occur/take place on September 7th at Istituto Marangoni • The School of Design, don’t miss the chance to learn more about new Design trends.

Once again, the Hub on Via Cerva will host the exhibition "Enriching Sustainability", the result of the joint effort of Product & Furniture Design students in collaboration with Alessi under the artistic direction of Studio Nendo, and curated by Gustavo Martini, Designer and Alumnus of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design. With the valuable guidance of Studio Nendo, the students offered their personal take on products that should be conceived not only as functional tools, but also as narrative elements reflecting Alessi’s identity with a view to reuse before recycling.

TECHNOGYM STORE

September 8th, 2021

On September 8 there will be an award ceremony for the winners of the Technogym Design Contest 2021 – “Augmented Wellness Experience”, in which Students, Alumni and members of the Prisma Project participated. The winners’ works will be on display at the Technogym store.

PRECIOUS HARMONIES

September 9th, 2021

Pianegonda’s Showroom will be the star of the third night – September 9 – organised by Isituto Marangoni with the exhibition “Precious Harmonies”, a collection of works by the students of the Master in Fine Jewelry Design. In their hands, jewellery becomes a tool to express their history and their creative sensibility through a language that finds its voice in graceful and contemporary shapes.

On September 9th don't miss the "Design Drops Night", the party organised by Istituto Marangoni • The School of Design that opens its doors to the city.

During the Salone, the installation “Culture as a mirror of society” will find its home at Cult&Must©Superstudio on Via Tortona. Directed by Giulio Cappellini and curated by Matteo Agati, Designer and Istituto Marangoni Alumnus, a work of art represents an opportunity to reflect on the complementary roles of Isituto Marangoni within the Design System: a talent hotbed and the beating heart of the Durini Design District, the future and the present of this wonderful world.

Finally, getting to the heart of sustainability, attention for the environment and the needs of new generations, Istituto Marangoni partnered with Flaminia to participate in WePlanet with "Now", a globe decorated by the members of the Prisma Project with bandages, as a metaphor for the care the world needs.
