The blended option provide a mix of online classes, with the added opportunity to study at school, in the classroom, for the final 2 weeks of the course. The first two weeks go from August 10th to August 21st. The second two weeks go from August 24th to September 4th.

Highlights

Under the mentorship of world renowned fashion designer John Richmond, this special-edition 4 weeks introductory course will take participants on an inspirational journey into the fascinating world and imaginative process of fashion creation.

Participants will learn key aspects of the design process through a dynamic mix of practical and theoretical lessons. They will approach relevant themes such as finding design artistry through research, representing ideas and concepts through digital drawing and illustration, collection development with an appreciation of current trends and markets, as well as the attentive selection of fabrics and materials. Students will have the opportunity of experiencing how all these aspects work together in real life, for a successful brand.

Guided through masterclasses by John Richmond himself, participants will create a road map from concept to collection. They will be mentored by his experience as a creative director and his music inspiration, the challenges of the industry, as well as his unique creative and stylistic identity. The end result will be a highly creative and commercially viable contemporary capsule collection, represented through the student’s mini portfolio.

Online Option

4 weeks online

Online courses focus on the digital techniques and application of fashion currently used in companies worldwide. Via an exciting mix of online classes, workshops and talks participants are introduced to key notions of the fashion design process from basic digital drawing and illustration techniques to research and idea generation, as well as the study of trends, fabrics and materials. They will gain an overview of key considerations such as creative identity, commercial viability and sustainability in collection development. This unique course explores the role of the fashion designer in collaboration with the celebrated John Richmond as mentor, who will support students through dedicated masterclasses. Participants will develop their digital fashion design capsule collection based on inspiration linked to the selected theme. All concepts and supporting design materials will be illustrated and presented as a digital mini portfolio at the end of the course.

Blended Option

4 weeks: 2 weeks online + 2 weeks in school

Blended courses offer an exciting mix of online classes, theoretical lessons, physical workshops and seminars. Participants are introduced to key notions of the fashion design process from basic digital drawing and illustration techniques to research and idea generation, as well as the study of trends, fabrics and materials. They will gain an overview of key considerations such as creative identity, commercial viability and sustainability in collection development. This unique course explores the role and process of the fashion designer with the celebrated John Richmond as mentor through dedicated masterclasses. During the last two weeks in school environment with the support of tutors, participants will elaborate and refine their work created initially in the digital sphere, including the embellishment of sketches and basic hand illustrations, selection and manipulation of fabrics and materials. Design materials, charts and mood boards will all be brought together and presented as a final fashion design collection mini portfolio.

This short course in the London school provides participants an insight into the key notions of the fashion design process from basic digital drawing and illustration techniques to research and idea generation, as well as the study of trends, fabrics and materials. They will gain an overview of key considerations such as creative identity, commercial viability and sustainability in collection development. This unique course explores the role and process of the fashion designer with the celebrated John Richmond as mentor through dedicated masterclasses. Participants will work on a design collection via a vocational learning approach in the school with the support of tutors and the use of facilities/equipment for a hands-on embellishment of their mini portfolio.
